New York, – The Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF), the first Pacific-led international financial institution, was highlighted by Prime Minister and Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), Hon. Jeremiah Manele, at a formal reception for Pacific Leaders in New York on the margins of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Prime Minister Manele said the PRF reflects the collective strength of the Blue Pacific Continent.
“The PRF reflects our shared vision as a Blue Pacific Continent, united as one, we can achieve the extraordinary for our peoples,” the Prime Minister said.
He described the establishment of the PRF as a historic milestone for the region, demonstrating Pacific solidarity, leadership, and the determination to build resilience from within.
“The PRF is a Pacific solution, by the Pacific and for the Pacific,” Prime Minister Manele emphasised. “It will ensure our most vulnerable communities can access predictable, timely, and practical support in the face of climate change, natural disasters, and other shared challenges.”
The PRF was formally established at the recent Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting in Honiara, where the signing of its Establishment Agreement marked a major step in strengthening regional resilience, financial sovereignty, and sustainable development across Forum member states.
Prime Minister Manele said the New York reception was an opportunity to renew commitment to Pacific unity and to present the region’s voice and priorities to the international community during UNGA.
