CEOs pledge commitment to the incoming new Government

Apia, Samoa – 12 September 2025 – The Chief Executive Officers of the 51 Government entities including 18 Ministries, 27 State Owned Enterprises and statutory bodies, have pledged their commitment to work with the incoming FAST Government.

The CEOs voiced their support during an initial meeting called by the Prime Minister-elect at the Maota o Samoa Function Centre on Wednesday afternoon.

It was well attended by key ministries including the Attorney General, Finance, Prime Minister and Cabinet, Public Service Commission, Parliament, Police, Education, Health and Works except for the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade who is overseas.

The Prime Minister-elect, Laaulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi said the initial meeting ahead of next Tuesday’s swearing in of the new government, was a meet and greet between the newly elected members of the incoming FAST government and the CEOs and their representatives who attended.

He said it was crucial to get to know each other and establish a clear understanding as the CEOs advice and support are crucial in the workings of the new government.

The Prime Minister-elect acknowledged the CEOs for the service and it was crucial that there exists mutual trust and understanding between government and the CEOs; as the basis of any functioning family.

He said the country’s current improved economic performance is due to their work and service over the last government’s tenure.

The 31 elected members of the FAST Party then introduced themselves and the CEOs and senior representatives of the 51 government entities reciprocated and gave a brief report on their ministries.

The CEOs are now required to produce an updated report on the priorities of their respective ministries to form the basis for the new governments priorities when it takes office after the swearing on next Tuesday.

He reminded the CEOs that the government belongs to the whole country and not to a particular political party; and that he and cabinet have been elected by the people to serve for the benefit of all of Samoa.

The Prime Minister-elect and his cabinet will be sworn in next Tuesday, 16 September.
