FAST 15, HRPP 9, Independents 2 in Election Official Count

Apia, Samoa – 03 September 2025: The final count of 24 of the 50 electoral constituencies completed so far, has the FAST Party winning 15 seats, HRPP 9 and Independents 2.

The count for the Aana Alofi 1 constituency was completed about 3.00 this morning that saw incumbent Fesolai Apulu Tuigamala winning comfortably with 932 votes against rival Independent Taueva Faafouina with 473 votes. Third was HRPP’s Ufagalilo Faamanu Mualia 397, Fesolai Suafoa 131 and Leaupepetele Filipo 43.

The Electoral Commissioner is targeting to complete the final count by Friday 5 September which is the final day of the election period and when the official results be published and return of writ on 8 September.

Only 50 constituencies are being counted as the Faleata 2 seat held by the Samoa Uniting Party was not contested when the court ruled two candidates not legally fit to run.

There were celebrations at Lepea last night when the final count for Faleata 1 overturned Friday’s provisional result with HRPP newcomer, Faumuina Opapo Oeti winning the seat from Manulelelua Paletasala Talitau Tovale (FAST).

Fiu Faaolatane Ponifasio Vasa – Palauli 2 although registered as an Independent, he had been on the campaign trail as a FAST candidate.

Newcomers, Amituanai Malolo Tautofi Roma – Vaisigano 2, Lefue Perenise Lelevaga – Sagaga 4 and Fata Ryan – Sagaga 2.

Newcomers, Fiu Ponifasio Vasa – Palauli 2, Vaaaoao Salu Alofipo – Gaga’emauga 1 and Sala Paulo Tuala Poto – Sagaga 3.

Siumu
Former police officer Faalogo Asuao Kapeliele 11 Faalogo (Independent) secured 492 votes to win the Siumu seat from FAST candidate Tu’u’u Anasii Leota who received 456 votes. Faivalaulauafolasa Lokeuaina Lumanuvae of HRPP received 335. Another Independent candidate Tofaeono Mealofa Salamasina Tofaeono 19, and Tuuu Ekiumeni Fauolo of the Samoa Uniting Party (SUP) 39 votes.

Aana Alofi 4
The only woman candidate for Aana Alofi 4, Afamasaga Leone Mati Vaili Masame of the FAST party won polled 848 votes to win the seat from the caretaker minister of the Environment, Toesulusulu Cedric Schuster with 454 votes. Independent candidate Tagoiaega Maotua Levi Puipui came third with 434 votes and another Independent Lasei Sione Lasei with 65 votes.

Faasaleleaga 2                               

Newcomer, Vaaelua Senetenari for HRPP defeated FAST’s Magele Sekati by 678 to 610 votes. Third was Independent Talouli Iosefa with 319, Magele Tusigaigoa 196 and Malu Saletoto with 66.

Vaisigano 1
Newcomer, FAST candidate Amituanai Malolo Tautofi Roma polled 570 votes to beat caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Niuava Eti Malolo of SUP who received only 158 votes. Independent candidate Masoe Vaai Matemini Seiuli came second with 420 votes.

Gagaifomauga 2
FAST MP Foisala Tu’u Ioane returns with 334 votes to beat Independent candidate Falesaolupe Vaialai Iosua who polled 310 votes.
Former MP Sooalo Feo Umi Mene of the Samoa Labour Party received 223 votes while Independent Tagaloa Mark Huch got 129 and HRPP’s Tologata Sioeli Alofaifo came in third with 303 votes.

Gagaemauga 2
Also returning for a second term is Elder Deacon, Seuamuli Fasi Toma of FAST with 606 votes beating former Parliament Deputy Speaker who competed as an Independent Valu Mataia Nafoitoa Talaimanu Keti who received 302 votes.

Sagaga 4
Newcomer, Lefue Perenise Lelevaga of HRPP was the clear winner with 1048 votes defeating Patea Tuisa Tulimasealii Tasi who competed as an Independent and received 540 and former MP, Tagaloatele Pasi Poloa (FAST) who received 476 votes. Independent candidate, Tumua Kelemete Sapa’u Vitale, polled 4 votes.

Faleata 1
Former CCCS church minister and Lands & Titles Court Judge, Faumuina Opapo Oeti of HRPP has secured the Faleata 1 seat with 1466 votes. Manuleleua Sonny Lameta also of HRPP received 1427 while former MP, Manulelelua Paletasala Talitau Tovale of FAST received 1423. Independent candidate Tomaagaune Mikaele Une Independent settled for 406 votes.

Aana Alofi 1
Fesolai Apulu Tuigamala returns comfortably polling 932 with closest, Independent Taueva Faafouina with 473 votes. Third was HRPP’s Ufagalilo Faamanu Mualia 397, Fesolai Suafoa 131 and Leaupepetele Filipo 43.

The counting continues this morning and the Electoral Office expects the count to be quicker now as the bigger constituencies are now completed.
