Apia, Samoa – 18 August 2025: Social media blogger Fiu Situta Lomitusi also known as Tama o le Elele was released on bail today.

His bail conditions include signing at the police station, surrender his travel documents and to stay with his family in Savaii.

There was no order for him to refrain from posting on social media.

Today’s case was Fiu’s outstanding warrant of arrest on drug charges which police only managed to reinstate when he was charged with defamation last month.

Fiu resides overseas and has been very vocal against former Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi and police arrested him when he arrived in Samoa last month.

When his name was punched into the police system, the warrant of arrest appeared.

He will appear next month in the District Court on the defamation charge and on the outstanding warrant in April 2026.
