Police investigators have confirmed they have identified the mother of the newborn baby who was found abandoned in a hostel washroom at the Fiji National University (FNU) Natabua campus earlier this week.
The discovery of the infant, left inside a sanitary bin in the female toilet, shocked the community and sparked an immediate police investigation.
Police say they are now awaiting clearance from medical professionals before they can proceed with questioning.
The baby, who was found alive, continues to receive care at the Lautoka Aspen Hospital.
