THE Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands has donated a range of livelihood supplies to the Malaita Province, in a ceremony held at the JQY Enterprise Storage area at Lungga, North Central Guadalcanal on Wednesday.
The donation which included an agricultural tractor, farm-oriented motor tricycle, 100 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) – rubber shoes, gloves, jumpsuits, protective covers and 10,000 sports suits were donated by the Jiangsu Province.
At the same time, Chinese Embassy also donated 40 mobile garbage bins, 40 solar power system KM920 with solar panels, 20 multifunctional portable power supply KM918 with solar panels, 60 flashlights to Malaita Provincial Government.
These supplies aim to support the development of key sectors in Malaita Province.
In his handing over speech, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Solomon Islands H.E Cai Weiming said, the donation is a testament to the growing friendship and cooperation between China and Solomon Islands.
“Today’s donation is one of the many fruitful outcomes of Malaita Premier Elijah Asilaua’s recent trip to Jiangsu Province in June,” Ambassador Cai said.
He added that during the visit, Jiangsu Province and Malaita Province formally signed an agreement on establishing a sister-province relationship.
“The sister-province relationship between Malaita and Jiangsu has become a vivid example of sub-national cooperation between China and Solomon Islands.
“It not only extends China-Solomon Islands friendship to the grassroots, but also strengthened the foundation of our bilateral relationship.”
Premier Asilaua expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the generous donation, saying that it symbolizes the long-standing and mutual respectful friendship between China and Solomon Islands.

“The gifts we receive today from the Chinese Embassy are not only items of utility and support, but as a symbol of our brotherhood friendship and partnership, that builds on mutual respect and the shared future for progress, peace, and prosperity,” Premier Asilaua said.
“This friendship reflects a fruitful milestone in our recent formal signing of the agreement to establish the sister Province relationship with Jiangsu on 19th June 2025.”
The donated items are expected to support key sectors in Malaita Province, including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and daily well-being.
The agricultural equipment, for example, will help modernize farming practices, increase productivity, and reduce the physical burden on farmers.
As Premier Asilaua noted, “the agricultural donated assets will support efforts to modernize farming practices, increase productivity and reduce the physical burden on famers.
“These machines are not just equipment—they are tools of empowerment, helping farmers expand their reach and unlock greater yields from their land.”
The garbage bins donated by the Chinese Embassy will support effective waste management, which is foundational to public health, environmental sustainability, and urban development.
“When communities have the tools to manage waste properly, it reinforces a culture of respect for the environment, for public spaces, and for one another,” Premier Asilaua said.
“As the value of a common virtue akin to religious or spiritual purity is nicely stated, ‘cleanliness is next to godliness.’”
Ambassador Cai emphasized China’s commitment to supporting the development and well-being of the people of Solomon Islands.
“China will continue to offer assistance in our own capacity for the development of Malaita Province and other provinces of Solomon Islands,” he said.
The donation ceremony marks another significant milestone in the cooperation between China and Solomon Islands, and demonstrates China’s commitment to supporting the development and well-being of the people of Solomon Islands.
Witnessing the ceremony yesterday alongside Premier Asilaua were his Deputy, Randal Sifoni, Provincial Secretary Erick George and Ministers Jerry Hite for Fisheries, Roselyn Emma for Health and William Ionga for Malaita Outer Islands.
Chinese Ambassador H.E. Cai was accompanied by other representatives from the Chinese Embassy.
Owner of JQY Enterprise was also present at the ceremony.
