Aust-SI partnership plan unveiled

AS part of Australia’s long term commitment to the Solomon Islands, the Australian Government on Thursday 26th June 2025 officially launched the Australia – Solomon Islands Development Partnership Plan 2024-2029.

Australia’s Minister for Pacific Island Affairs Pat Conroy, along with Solomon Islands Minister for National Planning and Development Cooperation Rexon Ramofafia officiated at the ceremony.

“Australia is a partner Solomon Islands can count on. We work hand in hand because we are a family who share an ocean and a future.

“Australia is making commitments for the long term, under the Solomon Islands – Australia Partnership,” the Australian Government said.

The Development Partnership Plan sets out how Australia will support the critical needs of Solomon Islanders.

The goal, objectives, priorities and programs in our development partnership were established in consultation with the Solomon Islands Government and are guided by the Solomon Islands’ National Development Strategy (2016-2035) and Australia’s International Development Policy.

The Development Partnership Plan outlines three shared objectives: supporting inclusive economic growth, infrastructure and job creation; investing in people, communities and links to Australia and the region; and improving stability, security and resilience.

At the Development Partnership Plan launch, Minister Conroy said “The Solomon Islands – Australia Partnership is based on mutual respect, collaboration and trust. This new Plan aligns with the Solomon Island Government’s development priorities and long-term planning, and remains flexible and responsive to emerging priorities”.

Minister Ramofafia thanked Australia for the open, transparent and cooperative approach to development in Solomon Islands.
