King Promotion Confirms Main Bout

The World Boxing Association (WBA) Oceania super bantamweight title fight between Junior Binnu Singh and Sydney-based Runqi Zhou will be the main bout of the July 19 promotion at Suva’s Vodafone Arena.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by King Boxing Promotion promoter Nahroon Buksh.

“The Binnu, Zhou title fight is sanctioned by WBA and it’s the first time for one of their titles to be fought here,” he said.

The WBA was founded in the United States in 1921- it is the oldest major organisation- still regulating fights. The WBA headquarters is now based in Panama.

Buksh said the main supporting bout is for the Fiji heavyweight boxing title fight between holder James ‘The Beast’ Singh and Semi ‘Equaliser’ Dauloloma. This is their fourth fight. Both boxers have won one each fight but their third fight was declared a no contest.

“There were some issues but we’ve sorted it out,” he said.

This was after a video footage from Fiji heavyweight champion Singh expressing his disappointment that he is not fighting in the main bout while Dauloloma said fighting in the main bout or in the main supporting or even as the first fight of the programme does not mean anything to them as they are ready to rumble.

The other main supporting bout is for the Professional Boxing Commission NZ sanctioned super featherweight title fight between Mikaele Ravolaca and hard hitting Junior Raka of Papua New Guinea.

“The fight is after the Fiji heavyweight title fight,” Buksh added.
