Since COVID shut down the nations, it has been our deepest desire to return to the Solomon Islands—our largest and most passionate English-speaking fan base in the world. We waited… and waited… and waited.
The Solomons were among the last countries to reopen after the pandemic, but when those borders finally did open, we knew the wait had been worth it.
Having circled the globe since then, our appreciation for this nation and its beautiful people—the Happy Isles—has only grown deeper.
This time, we tried to prepare far in advance. In past tours, the logistics often came together at the last minute with great stress.
So starting early this year, we began laying the groundwork. But in true Solomon fashion, even with months of planning, many key pieces—venue permits, power needs, transportation—still only came together during the final week.
Yet once again, it was worth it.
We faced more opposition going into this tour than any other in Christafari’s history—lost bags, cancelled and rerouted flights, overbooked hotels, and key people dropping out last minute.
At one point, everything was falling apart. I cried out to God and posted a desperate plea online for volunteers.
That’s when the tide turned.
Suddenly, a grassroots team of 70 young, passionate volunteers—mostly university students in Honiara—came alongside us to reach their peers for Christ.
That’s when we knew: God was assembling something special.
We landed in Honiara and were welcomed in true island style—warriors with spears, Aunties with leis, and hearts open.
But just when I thought nothing else could go wrong, the skies opened. Rain cancelled our first show.
How would we get the word out that the new date was the next day? Flyers had yesterday’s date. The banner in Chinatown was wrong. But thanks to what many call the “Coconut Express,” the news spread fast.
And our first night in Honiara was absolutely incredible. Only God could’ve made it happen.
From there, we set sail for Malaita—our strongest fanbase in the entire Pacific. This wasn’t a makeshift event.
We brought the biggest stage, lighting rig, sound system, and LED screens the island has ever seen. But would anyone show up?
There were no pastors helping us on the ground. No official promotion. Just one hotel and a field secured by a local friend. As the concert start time approached, only a handful of people were there. But Solomon time is different…
By 8pm, more than 25,000 people filled the field and side roads. People even climbed on rooftops.
The crowd roared, and the Spirit of God moved. Pastor Mark Johnston opened with games and the Gospel.
Pastor Bob Lenz brought a powerful message of hope. And Christafari held nothing back in an explosive 3-hour concert. The field was ablaze with worship and the joy of the Lord.
Night two? Even wilder. Thousands more came. The sound system was at full volume, but the people were louder.
Some youth near the front were so pressed in, the police had to intervene for safety. Twice that night we preached the Gospel—and both times, nearly every hand went up for the Sinner’s Prayer.
We didn’t come just for stadium crowds. One of our highlights was ministering in villages like Lilisiana and around the Fakai’ae freshwater spring.
We brought candy, songs, dresses for children, and the love of Christ. Some little girls arrived with nothing, and left with smiles, dresses, and the Good News. This is the Gospel lived out.
It was walking through those villages that I wrote another song—because words alone couldn’t express what I was witnessing.
In those moments, I knew: I was exactly where Jesus would be.
As we boarded the boat back to Guadalcanal, there was a twinge of sadness. But we know this journey isn’t over yet.
Sunday night at 5pm, we’ll be holding our final outreach concert of the tour at Kukum Field, Honiara. Rain or shine, we’ll be there—and we’re inviting YOU to come be part of what God is doing.
We have no idea what the Lord has in store—but if it’s anything like what we’ve already seen across eight free outreach concerts in Vanuatu and the Solomons, then it’s going to be unforgettable.
Yes, we’ve faced opposition. But that’s because the enemy wants to change our position—yet God is using every obstacle to put us in the perfect position to reach as many people as possible with the life-transforming Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As the Apostle Paul wrote:
“A great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.”
—1 Corinthians 16:9
Join us Sunday night and bring someone who needs to hear this Good News.
See you at Kukum Field. Come ready. Come expectant. Come and worship!
Until all have heard,
Pastor Mark Mohr
