The Green Valley Community Security Taskforce has received a timely donation of security equipment from Honiara City Councillor for Vura Ward, Cr. Rolland Konai on Wednesday, 4th June 2025, in Green Valley Community, East Honiara.
The donation marks a significant milestone in community-driven efforts to improve safety and reduce unlawful activities in the area.
This equipment includes security uniforms, one wheelbarrow, shoes, two solar light panels, one grass cutter, batons, and four torchlights.
Councillor Konai, who also serves as the Chairman of the Law Enforcement Division, handed over the equipment on behalf of the Honiara City Council. He expressed his appreciation to the Green Valley community for taking the initiative to form the task force voluntarily.
“This effort demonstrates true community leadership and responsibility,” said Cr Konai. “We fully support initiatives like this, which help prevent criminal activities and promote a peaceful and harmonious environment.”
The establishment of the Green Valley Security Taskforce reflects a growing commitment among local residents to take proactive measures in safeguarding their neighborhoods. The equipment donation is expected to enhance the task force’s capability in monitoring and maintaining peace within the community.
Also speaking at the occasion, Honiara City Council Law Enforcement Director Mr. Robert Madeo conveyed his gratitude on behalf of the Office of the Lord Mayor, the City Clerk, and all HCC staff.
“Green Valley is the first community in Honiara to voluntarily establish a local security task force,” said Mr. Madeo. “This is a commendable step and sets a positive example for other communities.”
The Honiara City Council reaffirms its support for such community-led initiatives and encourages other wards to follow suit in fostering safer neighborhoods through collaboration and civic engagement.
