Team Padayachi took out the 16th Sunny West Bowling Carnival 2025 Fours Section Cup at the Nadi Sports and Social Club on Sunday.

The side consisted of Shivan Padaychi, Pita Cabenasiga, Som Padayachi and Filipe Delai as they beat defending champions Rajnesh Prasad’s team of David Aitcheson, Ravitesh Singh and Kushal Pillai 11-10 in a thriller.

Both teams were locked at 10-10 in the 14th end and Prasad appeared to be holding a shot until Padayachi delivered a perfectly weighted final draw to claim victory.

“This is the moment I’ve trained for my whole career,” an emotional Shivan Padayachi said after the win.

“To beat a champion like Rajnesh in this fashion is unbelievable.’

Prasad was gracious in defeat and praised Team Padayachi indicating that the better team won.

Other results, Graeme Kath team defeated Sanjit Sen 14-10. The team of Semesa Naiserivati Raymond Singh, Bobby Prasad, Josaia Jare and Dan Vinod won the plate final by beating Munesh Kumar’s team 30-8 in a one-sided affair.

“This year’s carnival raised the bar for lawn bowls in Fiji,” said tournament chair Sanjit Sen.

“The skill on display, especially in that incredible final, shows how much our sport is growing.”

The action continues with the Pairs tournament, commencing today at 8am at the same venue.
