The Suva football team is on a mission to the win the BiC Fiji FACT tournament on their home soil and in front of their fans.

This was the view of Suva Football Association president Nitin Singh who also indicated that their players are ready to do their district proud.

“We’ve been preparing very well,” Singh told SUNsports yesterday.

“The boys have been doing some hard training and their commitment is there. Everyone knows what’s at stake.”

He highlighted that the team has maintained consistency in their tactical approach, building on the momentum from previous outings during the Extra Premier League.

“We’re carrying on from where we left off. No major changes, just sharpening what we already do well.”

Suva has also lined-up a friendly match against Nasinu today.

This, Singh says, is to test their readiness for the FACT tournament.

“The Suva team is injury-free heading into the tournament and no new players have been added to the roster.

“We’re managing the players’ fitness and workload very well.

“The coaching staff has been focusing mainly on our defensive structure and attacking transitions.”

Dubbed the Whites, they are going to bank on seasoned campaigners like Remueru Tekiata, Akuila Mateisuva, Dave Radrigai, Ravinesh Karan-Singh and Waisake Navunigasau.

Singh said the team morale is high and there is an air of confidence in the camp. “We’re all looking forward to the tournament. We’re feeling confident and doing our best in training. The goal is to win every match and lift the trophy on home turf.

“All teams in the tournament are strong, so we’re not underestimating anyone,” he added.

Singh also acknowledged the crucial role of fans in lifting the players’ spirits.

“The fans are the most important part of this journey. We encourage them to come down and support the team. The fans truly make the difference.

“We also thank our sponsor, Stratum Construction, for their continued support.”

Suva is in Pool B where they face Labasa, Nadi and Nadroga.
