Negotiations are underway with a world renowned boxing body to sanction a title fight between Fiji featherweight champion Junior Binnu Singh and Sydney-based Runqi Zhou.

When contacted yesterday Kings Boxing promoter Nahroon Buksh said it is going to be one of the main undercards of his debut promotion at Suva’s Vodafone Arena on July 19.

“I’ll make an official statement once we get the title fight sanctioned,” Buksh said.

The Labasa businessman is adamant that he would receive the sanctioning approval letter today.

“We’re just waiting for the sanctioned letter, but the fight is on and the contract has been done,” he said.

“This is the most awaited fight where fans around the country want to see. They want to see Runqi Zhou fight in Suva because last time he fought in Nadi against the late Ubayd Haider.”

Zhou is trained by world renowned boxing trainer Angelo Hyder and his manager is Tony Tolji.

Buksh has high expectation of a big turnout of fans to fill up the Vodafone Arena.

“I have a good line-up for this event,” he said.

Singh dubbed the Nadroga slugger has lost only one (through a split point decision against Zain Adams of New Zealand) of the 12 professional fights while Zhou has fought 13 professional fights where he has won nine, three losses times and a draw.

The main bout is for the Fiji heavyweight title showdown between James ‘The Beast’ Singh and challenger Semi Dauloloma.

The other main supporting bout is for the Professional Boxing Commission of New Zealand super featherweight title between Fiji super featherweight champion Mika Ravalawa and Ross Malthus of New Zealand.
