THE fate of a young man accused of committing an indecent act on a 15 year-old girl in West Honiara last year will be known in court on May 27.
The defendant, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victim, faces one count of Indecent Act without Consent.
His matter was listed on Tuesday for judgement before Principal Magistrate Elma Rizzu Hilly but was administratively adjourned to May 27.
During the trial, the prosecution had called four witnesses, while the defendant testified in his own defence.
According to the Crown’s case, on 5 June 2024, between 7pm and 8pm, the alleged victim was returning home from a church program when the defendant suddenly grabbed her hand.
He allegedly covered her mouth with his left hand to prevent her from screaming.
The accused then dragged the victim to a dark area and held her tightly, with her breast pressed against his body.
The alleged victim denied knowing the defendant, although she had seen him around their neighbourhood.
In contrast, the defendant testified that they had a boy-girl relationship.
The defendant claimed that they would walk together on multiple occasions, including on 1 June 2024, and on the night of the incident.
The court will deliver its verdict on May 27.
