Heritage Park Hotel (HPH) wins a prestigious award – the Travellers’ Choice Awards 2025 organised by Trip Advisor.
Heritage Park Hotel said, the award came about through hard work and commitment in providing the best service possible.
The Hotel said, it has been training staff and building a team focused on world class standards from before it opened in Honiara back in August 2006.
The challenge of this team has been to live up to the hotel’s slogan: When Only the Best will do!
This challenge has required continuous training, team building and leadership and innovation combined with eager enthusiasm to exceed guest’s expectations.
This attitude and a lot of hard work by the over 170 employees has delivered due recognition with the Heritage Park Hotel being included in the top 10% of hotels across the world as per the Trip Advisor travellers’ choice awards for 2025.
Being in the top 10% of hotels across the world, as judged by guest comments, is rewarding recognition for everyone on staff and the Directors and suppliers as well.
Every position at the hotel contributes to the overall experience and every job has to be done well to give an excellent experience to the guest.
This is great recognition for Solomon Islands as well as it shows with effort it is possible to rate with the best in the world.
While this award is wonderful recognition to the team it is not the end of the work to be the best.
Management and staff are working on so many fronts to advance and improve.
Heritage Park Hotel has had a qualified training manager at the hotel since before the first recruitments took place.
The current training manager has been in country for 9 years. Training happens internally and some externally on a continuous basis. The hotel is focused on skills improvement.
The Food and Beverage manager comes with 9 years in country and was previously in PNG at the prestigious Airways Hotel.
Maintaining consistency and creating new tastes involves a lot of talent and includes working with the chefs and access to quality ingredients.
While the core business is giving a comfortable nights sleep and a hot shower plus some in room amenities to lift the mood.
The reality is that an exceptional experience involves a lot of people and activities. Preparing a room involves many people including the laundry as well as the housekeeping staff who service the rooms and attend to the turndown service.
The grounds staff, gardeners and the maintenance team and security all have important functions which contribute to the overall experience.
Attention to detail across all these aspects of hotel visit are important and occur everyday.
While the hotel team are managing the day there are projects happening which will improve the hotel for future guests.
Heritage Park Hotel has recently moved and upgraded its Fit Zone Gym and added the Zen Zone massage treatment and pedicure rooms.
Another first for a Honiara hotel is an investment in a water treatment plant which delivers treated water to all rooms and kitchen and the laundry in the hotel.
Heritage Park Hotel is serious about the environment and sustainability. Initiatives in this ESG arena are many.
The hotel has a significant water harvesting program. A solar power project is with Solomon Power for assessment.
The hotel also has taken initiatives with organic composting of waste and reduction of plastics.
Carbon footprint initiatives include heat pump technology for hot water which reduces carbon emissions from hot water heating by over 80%.
The hotel sources organic cleaning products and uses organic compost for gardens.
Climate change mitigation efforts include the use of green refrigerants and equipment selection and tree planting.
Heritage Park Hotel is also focused on fair work practises including diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Employee health is also a core consideration with all staff provided with health checks as well as safety programs.
This acknowledgement which is a testament to the team effort across the hotel is a boost to everyone at the hotel.
