Drua under no pressure, says coach

“It’s just going to be a hard, full battle through the middle of the field.”

The Mesake Doge-captained Fijian Drua side will be under no pressure when they take on defending Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific champions Blues in Suva tonight.

This was the comment of Drua head coach Glen Jackson as the players have been urged to play to their best.

Jackson said they are least worried about the outcome of the points table as they are going to give their all when they run into the HFC Bank Stadium.

“We’ve sort of gone away from any sort of pressure around the points table,” he said.

“It’s pretty clear that we just need to keep winning every game, and that’s it in terms of that sort of side and their position on the table.

“I want our boys to understand, what it means to play for the Drua and what it means to play in front of their fans at home. How important it is to be proud of what they’re doing.

“Not only that, for the boys that will be in the team next year.”

Jackson said this season has been of great learning.

“We’ve got to take the positives out of what we’re doing each week and every training session.

“The boys have been training unbelievably well. They just don’t always get everything right on the field, but the more we’re playing, the better they’re looking.

“That’s just the main point around, especially the Blues, they definitely give us a different prospect of what we faced against the Reds.

“It’s just going to be a hard, full battle through the middle of the field.”

The match kicks-off at 7.05pm.
