Hard work pays off

When she was younger, Jennifer Hunuehu Kinikoroa from the Solomon Islands witnessed her grandparents working hard to preserve their traditions to ensure that their culture would never be forgotten. She wanted to do the same, but knew that to protect her heritage, she would need qualifications.

“USP Lautoka Campus became a place where I could learn, grow and connect with other Pacific islanders who shared the same dreams. Sometimes, I felt lost, unsure if I could keep up with the pace, but my family’s encouragement and the strength of my community kept me going. All those late-night assignments, research and study sessions have finally paid off. I can’t put into words how happy I am. Thank you, Lord, for this incredible day.

As I walked across the stage to receive my Postgraduate Diploma in Commerce, I couldn’t help but think of think of my grandparents, parents, my husband and family. This degree is a testament to their hard work, their belief in me and their sacrifices. I promise them I will carry our culture forward and share it with the world.”

Jennifer also credited a New Zealand government scholarship that allowed her to pursue studies at USP.
