Government will only intervene into the Netball Fiji saga when the time is right.
That was the message from the Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Saukuru said they are aware of what is happening at Netball Fiji.
This was 15 out of the 19 associations affiliated with Netball Fiji walked out of their Special General Meeting (SGM) in Suva on March 29 protesting against the leadership.
“At the moment we haven’t been involved at all,” Saukuru said.
“We’re just living it with them like we do to other sporting organisations. We’re just giving them the right to manage their own affairs. “Later on, we might come into the picture and try to settle things for them.”
Saukuru reiterated that Government has not engaged with the Netball Fiji over the saga.
“People are appointed on merit to the position they hold, they should have some certain degree of authority in that organisation and that has to be respected,” he said.
“We’re leaving it with them for the time being. We’ll certainly observe and come back at the right time to interfere when things get out of hand.”
