Alex breaks barriers to win Canberra Agent of the Year title | Canberra CityNews
Winning real eastate agent Alex Wang… “This award isn’t just about me – it’s about proving that commitment, integrity, and perseverance can lead to success.”

Alex Wang, of real estate agency Archer, has been named Agent of the Year at the RateMyAgent Awards 2025. He is the first agent of Chinese background to win this title in Canberra.

Alex says his success is a powerful testament to hard work, resilience and the evolving diversity of the sector.

“This award isn’t just about me – it’s about proving that commitment, integrity, and perseverance can lead to success,” says Alex.

“I hope my journey inspires others to chase their dreams, no matter where they come from.”

From immigrant to industry leader

After moving to Australia from China in 2014, Alex set out to build a career in Canberra’s competitive real estate market – a challenge for any newcomer.

In Canberra, he faced a real estate market that was smaller and more localised compared to cities such as Sydney or Melbourne, where there is a more visible presence of successful Chinese agents. But instead of seeing obstacles, he saw opportunity.

No one from a Chinese background in Canberra has done this before, and Alex is proud to show that it’s possible.

“My win means a lot to me – it means that dreams do come true,” Alex says.

He attributes a large part of his success to the mentorship and continuous support he has received from Archer, the real estate agency he has been with for five years. He says that over the years, their expertise and encouragement have helped him grow and thrive in an industry that can be challenging.

He describes Archer as a powerhouse in Canberra’s real estate market, specialising in residential sales, property management, and investment advisory. With a reputation built on trust, transparency and innovation, Archer has “cemented itself as a go-to agency for buyers, sellers, and investors seeking exceptional service and continues to set new industry benchmarks.”

Relentless work ethic and dedication

Alex says his commitment to his clients is second to none. He works seven days a week, with no breaks and no holidays, and he has built a reputation for exceptional service and results.

A licensed agent and auctioneer, Alex sold 68 properties in 2024, earning him a reputation for excellence and results. His Agent of the Year win solidifies his position as one of Canberra’s top-performing agents.

“I love what I do, and I do it well,” says Alex.

“This award reflects the countless hours I’ve invested in my clients and the trust they’ve placed in me.”

He says his approach is more than just hard work, “it’s about smart strategies, strong relationships and a deep understanding of the market”.

Alex’s victory isn’t just a personal milestone, he sees it as a testament to his dedication, expertise, and commitment to excellence. He believes his success reinforces the high standards of professionalism and achievement within the sector.
