The Western Lions Cricket team received a major boost prior to the first round of the McDonald’s Fiji Bash Twenty20 (T20) tournament to be held at Denarau Oval on Saturday.

This was after the side announced a new partnership with Elite Travels, which generously sponsored kits valued at $3000.

Team vice-captain Himanshu Patel said they were grateful to Elite Travels for their faith in the team.

“We vow to give our very best in every match, ensuring that their investment is well worth it,” he said.

Patel said he club’s journey has been of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice.

“Over the past three years, we’ve put in countless hours of practice and teamwork to create a squad that is not only competitive but stands out in every sense,” Patel said.

Last year, the team made history by reaching the finals of the T20 tournament organised by the Suva Cricket Association- a remarkable achievement, especially considering the challenge of travelling from Lautoka to Suva at 3am to compete.

“We’re not stopping there. This year, we are more focused and determined than ever,” Patel added.

“With months of preparation behind us, the Western Lions are setting our sights on winning the prestigious Mac Bash T20 Tournament, sponsored by McDonald’s. We are committed to bringing the trophy home and continue to make our supporters proud.”

Elite Travels chairman Jesal Jadav said they have always believed in the potential of the Western Lions.

“Their dedication, hard work, and team spirit have truly impressed us,” Jadav said.

“We’re excited to support them as they continue to make history, and we look forward to their success at the Mac Bash tournament, both on and off the field.

“We encourage all our supporters to come out and show their support for Western cricket as we strive to make history once again. We look forward to seeing our fans at the tournament.”

The Mac Bash T20 tournament will run right up to March 22.
