Behind her, the Washington Monument can be seen through the window.

The portrait was taken by Belgian photographer Regine Mahaux, who also shot the First Lady for her first term in the White House and later for the French magazine Paris Match.

Mahaux also previously photographed the tennis player Roger Federer, singer Rita Ora, and F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, according to her website.

Melania Trump’s first White House portrait from 2017 was shot in colour and prominently displays her engagement ring, which her husband Donald Trump presented her with when he proposed in 2004.

Her ring is not on display in the new photograph.
