Expect a huge turnout.
This was confirmed to SUNsports by McDonalds Fiji Coral Coast tournament director Jay Whyte during an interview yesterday.
“We should expect a huge turnout in crowd numbers this year,” he said.
Whyte added the location of the tournament has always been Lawaqa Park because it is a rugby crazy town.
“The people here are rugby crazy fans.
“They will turn up in numbers to see their local heroes take on overseas teams,” he said.
He also anticipates a level up in competition this year.
“Every year the competition rises from one level to another.
“All teams and clubs want to win and stamp their mark and this year, it will be different,” Whyte said.
The tournament will have international teams participatig for the main prize.
“Most of these countries come to the Coral Coast 7s to prepare for the next leg of the series 7s.
“This not only shows the benefit of the tournament but also the competition level our local teams have against these big overseas teams,” he said.
