Wise knew his line of work and was passionate about it.
This was the comment Former Fijiana sevens head coach Saiasi Fuli on the demise of Waisea Mataitoga.
He passed away on Sunday.
The late Mataitoga was the manager of the SportsWorld Fiji Under-20 team during his time of passing.
He also had a short stint as the Fijiana 7s manager at the end of 2022 to 2023 where he worked closely with Fuli.
“He was someone that brought joy to everyone around him,” Fuli said.
“Wherever he was you’ll always here laughter, he had a good sense of humour and a happy man.
“He does his work with passion which will surely be missed.”
He was an invaluable member of the Fiji Rugby development programme.
Mataitoga also held the proud distinction of managing the victorious Vodafone Deans Queen Victoria School U18 team.
The Fiji Rugby staff, board members, and several U20 players presented their i-reguregu in honour of Mataitoga on Sunday.
FRU in a statement said that his loss was deeply felt across the rugby vuvale and the broader community.
“Our hearts go out to his family and loved ones during this time of sorrow.
“On behalf of the entire Fiji Rugby vuvale, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the late Mr. Waisea Mataitoga,” the FRU statement added.
He will be laid to rest today in his village in Nawaikama, Gau, Lomaiviti with his older brother who passed a week ago.
Mataitoga was 42 and a school teacher.
