RSIPF urged public to stay calm

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) is aware of the application to the Parliament for the Motion of No Confidence.

The notice of the motions matures today and the mover, Member of Parliament for Central Honiara, Gordon Darcy Lilo is likely to move it tomorrow or Monday next week.

RSIPF is reminding Honiara residents and our good people of Solomon Islands to stay calm and respect the principles of democracy.

As per the normal processes and procedure of Parliament, the Motion of No Confidence submission will come before parliament deliberation after clear seven days from the date it was submitted.

RSIPF’s Assistant Commissioner, Simpson Pogeava, is appealing to members of the public not to spread false information about this motion as it can lead to misinformation and confusion.

AC Pogeava warned that spreading false information is an offence.

He appealed to members of the public to stay calm, treat the coming days as business-as-usual and to allow the 50 MPs to do their work in accordance with political processes.

To ensure public safety and fairness to this process, the RSIPF is closely monitoring events leading up to and during the actual no confidence motion debate.

The RSIPF is encouraging members of the public to refrain from doing anything that may disrupt this democratic process and to refrain from taking advantage of the situation.
