Northpole wins National Club Championship

It was a tight fight in the first half as the Tailevu-Naitasiri club held the Northerners, 2-2, at the breather.

Labasa football club North-pole returned home $4k richer after winning the 2024 Cecil’s National Club Championship (NCCC).

They defeated Buiduna, 6-3, at the Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) grounds yesterday.

It was a tight fight in the first half as the Tailevu-Naitasiri club held the Northerners, 2-2, at the breather.

In the second spell Melvin Mani puts Northpole into the lead in the 55th minute before Christopher Wasasala gets his second in the 61st. The other two goals were from Eparama Moraica and Mo-hammed Arbaz.

Despite the loss, Buiduna club created history as they made their first NCCC final.

They started their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Rewa’s Nakasi Police, followed by a narrow 1-0 win against Lautoka’s Rivals and holding Nadroga’s Downtown, 1-1, in their final pool play which secured their spot in the final. They walked away with $1k.
