A 24-YEAR-old accused of murdering a 25-year-old man last month has been granted a $1000 non-cash bail bond.
Kaline Masibalavu appeared this afternoon before Suva Judge Justice Thushara Rajasinghe on a charge of murder.
Mr Masibalavu is alleged to have stabbed the victim, Sanaila Bavesi, on the night of November 2 this year during a dispute in Suva.
The victim was rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital where he was admitted and later died.
The state lawyer Unal Lal is not objecting to bail after thoroughly conducting surety checks.
Mr Masibalavu’s sureties namely- his mother and uncle were accepted.
The accused whilst on bail will be residing with his self-employed uncle in Sawani.
Mr Lal request for 14 days to file and furnish full phase disclosures was granted.
Mr Masibalavu’s lawyer was reminded that if his client pleads not guilty on the next court proceedings to have the proposed agreed facts ready.
Justice Rajasinghe also imposed standard bail conditions for the accused to adhere to whilst on bail.
The case has been adjourned February 7 next year.
