Fiji Finals next for Dilikumona

“It’s my last year in primary school and I want to finish it on a high, I knew that I would win my event after I won in the zone,” Dilikumona added.

Watching the Fiji Secondary Schools athletics finals every year on TV motivated Nunia Dilikumona to make it to Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium.

After winning a gold medal for Bua yesterday at the Fiji Primary School Tuckers Ice Cream Games she has set her eyes on next year’s Fiji Finals.

The Navatu, Kubulau, Bua native won gold in the Under-14 girl’s long jump event.

She was coached by her teacher SisaTamani.

“I will attend Nadi Muslim College next year and I hope to make it to the Coca-Cola Games in the same event,” she said.

“It’s not my first time in Suva but my first time at the HFC Stadium, however, I was not nervous.

“It’s my last year in primary school and I want to finish it on a high, I knew that I would win my event after I won in the zone,” Dilikumona added.

She trains every afternoon under the supervision of Tamani.

“Training was quite tough, we ran up the hills during every training session.

“We don’t train in the morning but I managed to win my event and I thank my coaches for their guidance,” the youngest of three siblings added.

She has no idea if her two older siblings had the opportunity to represent Bua and she was happy that she did.

Dilikumona also ran in the 4x400m relay where her team finished fourth.
