Former star rugby winger Sireli Bobo strongly believes the Flying Fijians have what it takes to spoil the Irish party in their last Test match on Sunday morning (Fiji time)

Speaking to SUNsports, the former Flying Fijian speedster said the current team has done exceptionally well in their last two Test matches. The Level 3 coach said this was especially true when they bounced back from their loss to Scotland.

“The boys defeated Wales and Spain convincingly,” Bobo, who co-coached Nadroga to win this year’s Skipper Cup competition, said.

“They can do it again if they are ready on game day and have the mindset to win.”

Fiji opened their Northern tour account with a 57-17 loss to Scotland but bounced back with a 24-19 win over a struggling Welsh outfit. Last Sunday morning they defeated Spain 33-19 with a debut try to 18-year-old lock Setareki Turagacoke.

Bobo said it is crucial for the players to show up on game day and be ready for the game against Ireland.

He believed if our players were mentally prepared, it could hardly be stopped.

“Ireland is an unpredictable side. They play structured rugby and are ruthless when need to.

“But never count us out. We have what it takes,” he said.

The Flying Fijians have welcomed the services of Stade Francais winger Peniasi Dakuwaqa who joined the team to replace Semi Radradra, who is suspended for the red card against Wales.
Dakuwaqa scored two tries in his July debut Test against Georgia in Tbilisi.

Bobo said he trusts that Flying Fijians head coach Mick Byrne would name a strong Match 23 for the game against Ireland.

“Byrne knows his players and his combinations.

“I trust his decisions because he will name his best players who can get the job done,” he said.

When asked about the losing record Fiji has against Ireland, Bobo said: “That can be changed this weekend. We have a good side, a very good side. Few years ago, we struggled to find a good number 10 now, we have two good options, Caleb Muntz and Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula.

“We can win this game; we can make it happen. It is time to make another history.”

Bobo also stressed the importance for players to stay patient in the game, which is going to be crucial against Ireland.

Speaking during a press conference, Ireland scrum coach John Fogarty has labeled the FIJI Water Flying Fijians as a threat to them.

“They have improved a lot since the last time we faced them. You see that in the Wales game, they were a threat in all aspects of the game,” he said.

Fogarty added they would look for a good outing and try to win but they know it will be a mammoth task.

The match kicks-off at 3.10am (Fiji time).
