PM visits Gold Ridge Mine

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele visited the Gold Ridge Mining Limited, GRML mine site over the weekend.

Prime Minister Manele was accompanied by the Minister for Infrastructure Development Hon. Manasseh Maelanga MP and Minister of Public Service John Junior Tuhaika MP.

Mr. Mingqing Gao, Chairman of Wanguo Gold Group, Chairman and General Manager of Gold Ridge Mining Limited, his executive management and prominent Landowning chiefs welcomed the Prime Minister and delegation on arrival at the company’s Gold Ridge head office.

Chairman and General Manager Mr. Gao assured Prime Minister Manele that with the favourable government policies and support, GRML’s mission is to improve excellence,  increase gold production and build Gold Ridge to a world class mine.

National economic uplift is projected in the next few years directly as royalties to the government, landowners and Guadalcanal Province increases. The National Government benefits include tax and duties. 

Assuring GRML of the Government support, Prime Minister Manele said, a new Mines and Minerals Bill is being drafted and will go before Parliament next year. It is a framework to assist Mining investors in the country.

Prime Minister Manele emphasised, the government’s focus is to cultivate economic prosperity.

PM. Manele thanked GRML for having the confidence to invest in the country’s only Gold Mine. 

On behalf of the National Government, Prime Minister Manele appreciated GRML’s contribution to the country’s economy. 

He added, a government led taskforce will be assisting the company look into issues of concern and drive lasting solutions.

Prime Minister Manele was also given an impressive tour around the gold production processing plant where he had the opportunity to interact with the management and witnessed firsthand, the scale of onsite development.
