Belgium envoy pays courtesy visit on PM 

Belgium Ambassador assigned to Solomon Islands His Excellency Michel Goffin paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hon. Jeremiah Manele MP on Friday. 

His Excellency (H.E) Goffin who is based in Canberra, Australia was welcomed by Prime Minister (PM) Manele.

He expressed that Solomon Islands considers its bilateral partnership with Belgium of importance going forward and assured him of the Solomon Islands government’s continued support and commitment to further enhance and deepen bilateral relations with the Belgian Government. 

“Your presence symbolizes the strengthening ties between our nations,” PM Manele stated.

Prime Minister Manele expressed that Solomon Islands and Belgium share similar commitment to promoting peace, sustainability, and mutual understanding on issues of common interest. 

On behalf of their countries, PM Manele and His Excellency Goffin pledge to explore new avenues for collaboration in addressing climate change, technology, culture and development.

Prime Minister Manele and H.E Goffin also discussed potential areas of enhancing trade and investment, economic stability, National Security and infrastructure.

H.E Goffin said, Belgium and Solomon Islands enjoy good relations in many sectors especially the maritime sector. 

He added, Belgium values its partnership with Solomon Islands and will be looking for potential areas to explore and expand. 

Prime Minister Manele concluded by emphasising that Solomon Islands Foreign Policy is “friends to all, enemy to none. We engage with our partners with clear priorities. Our public is at the centre of our attention, not power politics”.
