Boxer Maureen Neumia is calling on women in the country to take up the sport.
“I started boxing in 2019 and my husband Fred Chand (South Pacific Boxing Promotion promoter) encouraged me to take up the sport,” she said yesterday.
“I’m encouraging women to take up this sport as they are doing well in other sports.”
The 37-year-old said she has prepared well for Saturday’s fight against Amo Wati at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
“I’ve been working really hard and hopefully all goes according to plan in the ring. I’ve been training with my son so there’s no challenge at all.”
Neumia has urged boxing fans to turn up on Saturday to watch the programme where three IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Asia Pacific titles would be at stake.
