The Fiji Police Force rugby team received a major boost yesterday from Shop N Save supermarket ahead of their Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Challenge.

This is the third executive year for the locally-owned supermarket to sponsor the Police Blues as they prepare to defend the prestigious bowl against the Republic of Fiji Military Forces on November 8 at the HFC bank Stadium, Suva.

Shop N Save Supermarket security consultant George Brown handed the sponsorship and acknowledged the officers for their contribution in communities and nation building.

Police rugby president Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime Mesake Waqa said the sponsorship will sustain the side’s logistics; he thanked Shop N Save for their continuous support.

“We are not underestimating our opponents,” he said.

“This is one of the events that both forces look toward to and display their best on the day.

“I know our opponents from the military; they will also want to claim the bowl despite losing the Escott Shield over the weekend.

“I’m pretty sure that they are going to come out prepared for the Sukuna.”

The sponsorship amount was not disclosed.
