Three top Australian trainers are bringing in their boxers for the South Pacific Boxing Promotions programme at Prince Charles Park in Nadi on Saturday, October 26.

This was confirmed to SUNsports yesterday by IBO (International Boxing Organisation) Fight Commissioner Justin Kennedy.

Trainer Stephen Ng of Matrix Boxing is training Lachlan O’Shea who challenges Winston Hill for the IBO Asia Pacific super welterweight title in the main bout.

Accompanying Australia’s knockout artist Tonga Tongotongo is his trainer Stephen Pasras, who is the founder and head of Black Diamond Boxing and Fitness Centre. Tongotongo, who has won his eight professional fights by knockouts face homeboy Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh in a 10-round clash for the IBO Asia Pacific cruiserweight title.

China’s Runqi Zhou, who is now based in Australia, is being trained by the renowned Angelo Hyder. Zhou takes on stylish Umbayd Haider for the IBO Oceania-Orient featherweight title in a 10-round fight.

“It’s going to be an interesting fight because Haider at one time also trained under Hyder,” Kennedy said.

Hyder trained and guided Australian boxers of Danny Green, Vic Darchinyan and Andrew Moloney to win the world title in their respective weight divisions.

Kennedy said all the IBO title fights have been sanctioned.

He indicated that SPBP director Mohammed Shameem has paid the sanctioning fees, the airfares of boxers, trainers and officials along with their accommodation.
