The Extra Supermarket Rewa football team has won the Digicel Fiji Premier League title.

This was after the Delta Tigers walloped hosts Nadi 4-1 at Prince Charles Park yesterday.

Rewa’s only challenge for the top spot of the DFPL points table came from Labasa who suffered a 2-1 loss to Ba.

Rewa head coach Roderick Singh said his players deserve the win.

“Firstly, we thank God Almighty for giving us the strength it was through him that we have achieved this,” the God fearing coach said.

“Last year Lautoka won it. We are the new winners of the league. I think the boys deserve the win. They fought hard.

“From the beginning of the year we knew we’ve to fight to win the league. I thank the boys for the fighting spirit throughout the season. “There were ups and down before we finally made it and secured the title.”

He said there were many challenges faced throughout the season, but consistency kept them going.

“One of the positive things is the consistency of the players. This is the only game for us to decide whether we won the league and it has happened. The league title goes back to Rewa.” he added.
