Fiji moves up in FIFA rankings

Solomon Islands is still the top Pacific team as they are ranked at 133 followed by New Caledonia at 158.

The Digicel national football team has moved up in the latest FIFA rankings (released on June 20) to 166 from 168. This was after the Roy Krishna-captained side walloped Papua New Guinea (PNG) 5-1 in their OFC Nations Cup opener at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva, on Sunday.

However, PNG is ranked at 165 while the Fijians still have a chance to improve their rankings if they beat 161 ranked Tahiti in Suva, tonight.

Samoa, who the Fijians thrashed 9-1 on Wednesday night is ranked 181 with Vanuatu at 171.

Solomon Islands is still the top Pacific team as they are ranked at 133 followed by New Caledonia at 158.

Meanwhile, today’s Group B matches of the OFC Nations Cup clash will see PNG taking on Samoa at 4pm followed by Fiji facing Tahiti at 7pm. Both matches will be played at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
