A sideline conversion from Ioane Teba sealed the Fiji Airways Fiji men’s rugby sevens team’s 28-26 win over New Zealand in the Madrid Sevens tournament in Spain, this morning.

Veteran halfback Jerry Tuwai said the win was through divine intervention and it was a special one for the team.

“To win against a very good team that is performing the series like New Zealand is big for us,” Tuwai said.

“It shows that we’re doing some smart things right and it pushes to become better players and a good team for the next game.”

Tuwai highlighted that all the teams have moved up to a different level.

“If you win or lose by a few points, it’s nothing new because all teams are good. For us to win against New Zealand, it shows the determination, the love and the heart that we have.”
