Nadroga Rugby Union president Jiuta Waqavonovono confirmed to SUNsports yesterday that his team will take on the Ba rugby side in a warm-up match at Vinod Patel ground in Ba this weekend.

This is part of their preparation for the Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenge on Saturday, June 1.

“We want to gauge our strength and evaluate what has been taught at training against Ba,” Waqavonovono said.

“It’ll be a good testing ground to test all the players in the warm-up match.”

Waqavonovono said there was nothing new about their preparation; the team is going through the same training routine.

“We are trying to regroup, regather and refocus with these players with a bit of bonding to strengthen the team’s chemistry,” he said.

“We are trying to drive back the will and the power to train and work hard.”

Waqavonovono said the players bonding experience will strengthen their attitude towards training.

“The real thing is to bond so the players will understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses,” he said.

“We can then turn these weaknesses around to be our strengths.”

Waqavonovono said he was glad that the players have recovered from their injuries.

“We are trying to drive into these players the will to play rugby and win,” he said.

“After the regrouping session is completed; we will then slowly implement the willingness of the players high level rugby.”

Waqavonovono wishes Suva and Lautoka the best in their Farebrother Challenge match.

“Suva and Lautoka will try to outdo each other this weekend in the clash of the cities,” he said.
