The Tailevu Rugby Union received a sponsorship of $3000 from Taras Supermarket last Friday; $2,500 in cash and $500 in-kind support.

This was to help the union run their 10s competition this week.

TRU president Joseph Rodan (senior) acknowledged the support and said it was an immense contribution as they turn a new leaf of leadership for the union.

He added that the elected executives have kicked off visiting communities and presenting their business plans, goals, vision and mission for the next five years.

“Your investment reflects a shared belief in community development through sport,” Rodan said.

“As a gesture of appreciation, the Tailevu Rugby Union will ensure that each of your businesses receives appropriate exposure and recognition across our official social media platforms and other communications.

“We see this not just as a sponsorship, but as a mutual partnership that strengthens both community spirit and business visibility.”

Taras Supermarket managing director Amish Patel said: “It is an immense honour to reaffirm our continued sponsorship of Tailevu Rugby Union.

He acknowledged the leadership of the newly elected president, Rodan.

“Your vision inspires unity, resilience and tradition across Tailevu.”

Patel added that the supermarket has been serving the people of Tailevu for over four decades.

“Rugby in Tailevu is not just a sport, it is an identity, a unifier, and a force for development. This 10s tournament is more than a competition; it is a movement. A movement rooted in inclusivity, culture, and community, with both men’s and women’s teams participating right at the heart of our villages.”

He added: “Our commitment to Tailevu Rugby Union goes beyond sponsorship; it is an investment in people, in grassroots development, and in the transformative power of sport.”
