Police officers at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province have arrested a 23-year-old male who was under warrant for domestic violence in Honiara last year.

The Office of Public Prosecution informed Auki police that a warrant has been issued for the 23-year-old for domestic violence.

The suspect failed to attend court after he was charged with domestic violence and went to his village.

He was then issued with a warrant for evading and failing to attend Magistrate Court.

The suspect was arrested on 27 February 2025 at his home village in West Are’are and will be escorted to Honiara, where he will appear before Honiara Magistrate Court.

Malaita Provincial Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Tex Tafoa, reminded those pending court appearances complete court processes than evading them.

“Failing to attend court does not mean that the courts will sweep their cases under the carpet,” Chief Superintendent Tafoa said.

He also thanked community leaders and individuals for their ongoing support to the police in upholding the laws.
