The West ‘Are ’Are Rokotanikeni Association (WARA) successfully held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at  Uhu, West Are’Are, Malaita from 16th -18th July 2025.

It was hosted under the empowering theme, “Ta’era’i Tarakoni” in Are’ Are language meaning “Rising together”.

The event drew together over 200 plus participants, including zones savings club leaders and members, community church leaders, partner and network organizations such as Wainoni Women’s Savings club and  Oxfam in the Pacific Honiara Office.

The opening of the event began with an official program included with opening theme song from the hosting zone 12 dedicated for the Founder Dr Alice Pollard and members of the Association followed with opening remarks and welcome from the Zone twelve host.

The official program speakers include, Zone president, Uhu Community Leader, WARA Technical advisor, Oxfam Program Country Coordinator, Ethel Wasuka.

The first day concluded with awards of prizes to empower women of zones especially in leadership and business from rural zones.

During the second day of the event, there’s also highlights of WARA Office reports, Zones Reports Information Session, and Items for Decision Making Endorsement of which include the WARA Strategic Plan 2025 – 2030 and WARA Policy and Procedure Manual.

A social activity also took place bringing women together to showcase their talents and socialize with other participants of the event together with the community people.

All the 13 zones of West Are Are Rokotanikeni Association (WARA) completed the third day with great plans and learnings looking forward to working together towards the next AGM which Waisisi village in Tai ward, Zone 3 will be hosting in 2026.
