OSAKA, Japan:Β The Solomon Islands’ “I Dig a Dream” Theatre Performance group has wowed audiences at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, with a series of captivating performances blending culture and theatre to raise awareness about ocean conservation.Β
The group’s electrifying show was the highlight of the Solomon Islands National Day celebrations at the Expo, when Solomon Islands celebrated its National Day on Thursday, 2nd October at the main stage at the Expo village.
The performance began with a poignant skit depicting the simple life of a coastal village family in the Solomon Islands, before transitioning into a powerful call to action to save the ocean from the devastating impacts of climate change.
The crowd erupted in applause as the performers took centre-stage, following remarks from Solomon Islands Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Hon. Peter Shanel Agovaka, and Japan’s Parliamentary Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Iuina Akiko.
The World Expo 2025, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” brings together over 160 countries and organisations to share ideas, innovations, and identities.
The Solomon Islands is proud to be part of this global gathering, showcasing its unique culture and traditions while engaging in meaningful dialogue with other nations.
Minister Agovaka encouraged visitors to engage with the Solomon Islands’ story and explore its pavilion, highlighting the country’s commitment to fostering stronger ties with Japan and other Expo partners.
Thousands of visitors have flocked to the Solomon Islands booth, located in a shared pavilion with other Pacific, Caribbean, and African countries, to experience the nation’s rich culture and products.
The “I Dig a Dream” performance group has once again demonstrated the power of art and culture to inspire action and raise awareness about critical issues affecting our planet.
